In Maybelline's ad several weasel words and phrases are used, such as "rocket time"and 8x bigger". The phrase "rocket time" does not actually hold significant meaning, and is dependent on the viewer's perception of a rocket's speed. The ad plays on peoples preconceived notion that rockets are fast. "8x bigger is also an example of weasel words; what is the product 8x bigger than? The advertisement is counting on the consumer making the assumption that their natural eyelashes will be 8x larger than before. But the actual phrase expresses no such commitment.

The weasel word inside of this ad is ‘fewer’. This is because the claim may be that it leaves fewer pieces behind, but it doesn’t actually say how many are left behind because of this change in bathroom tissue Another weasel word inside of this ad would be ‘new’ because this never was confirmed. The DiamondWeaver Texture could have always been a part of the product, but they claim that it is a ‘new’ change. This manipulates the buyer into believing that this is a NEW change, as well as that they should TRY this product because it will leave fewer pieces? Does it really, or is it just an advertising scam?
