Throughout the essay, “I Just Wanna be Average”, Rose writes about the various teachers he had during high school and how they influenced him in both positive and negative ways. He writes about how he was mistakenly put on a vocational track freshman year and how that resulted in him being taught by inadequate teachers, such as his homeroom teacher Brother Dill. Rose describes Brother Dill as “unstable”, and he often used physical violence to control the class. Rose’s p.e. teacher had similar abusive teaching methods. For English, Rose had Mr. Mitropetros. He lacked training and didn’t even attempt to teach any material. Mr. Montez was Rose’s Spanish teacher, and he also lacked experience as the year he had Rose was his first year teaching. Because of this inexperience he had no control of the class and it was “particularly rowdy”. Rose does admit that there were a few teachers who tried, such as his history teacher Brother Slattery. He gave weekly quizzes which gave Rose a basic understanding of world history. Probably the most beneficial teacher Rose had on the vocational track, though, was Brother Clint, because he noticed Rose’s potential and suggested he be moved out of the vocational track and into more challenging courses. The classes he had taken in the vocational track had not prepared him for the rigor of the college prep courses and Rose struggled to keep up. During his adjustment to the harder classes, Rose had Mr. McFarland for English. Mr. McFarland really inspired Rose and helped improve, making him the most beneficial teacher Rose had.

In “I Just Want to be Average”, Mike Rose writes about how different teachers impacted and motivated him differently. Brother Dill: Dill often lost his temper with the class and relied on physical discipline to control the class, regardless of whether it worked as it is mentioned that his class often slipped away from him. Physical education teacher: This man was an ex-linebacker and was very hard on his students, also using physical discipline as well as being fairly vulgar. Mr. Mitropetros: Mitropetros was a sophomore English teacher who was not educated in teaching English, leading to him setting very low standards for his students. Mr. Montez: Montez was not prepared for the discipline of the class, leading to him allowing students to get away with many unsavory behaviors. Brother Slattery: Slattery set a higher mark for his students and pushed them to excel, using weekly quizzes to try to motivate his students. Brother Clint: Clint also pushed the class to try to help them excel, only making small changes to his standard curriculum. He also notices that Rose has not been placed on the right track Mr. MacFarland: MacFarland pushes for his students to succeed, taking an individualized approach shown by him helping Rose get into college and motivating him to become a writer.

In the essay "I Just Wanna Be Average" Mike Rose describes the good and bad teachers he encountered. One teacher mentioned was the gym teacher, while his name was not said we know he was abusive and harsh, he wanted to ¨make men" out of the children and also picked on rose because of his name. Brother Dill was another teacher, He is an unstable man who uses abuse as a form of discipline, he would smack students and raise his voice. Mr. Mitropetros thought English, He commonly bragged about meting famous people, he was not the best teacher because he was inexperienced, he forced the students to read the same literature over and over again as he would rarely step in to do his job. Mr. Montez was another the Spanish teacher rose had, he struggled to controll his class. Mr. Macfarland was the best teacher to rose, he helped and encouraged rose be better and go to college.

In I just wanna be average Rose talks about many of his high school teachers and how they affected him. The first teacher we are introduced to is the gym teacher who is described as being harsh and just there going through the motions. Next, he talks about Mr. Mitropetros who was the type of teacher to only teach straight from the textbooks and often repeat lesson plans. Next was his Spanish teacher Mr. Montez who was described as a cool teacher but strict when they needed to be. Next was Mr Gross who actually taught students how to work through problems. Next, the teacher describe what changed his life. Mr. McFraland was a teacher who made a choice to come to teach at a small school to affect kids' life like Rose's. He pushed Rose to be a better student and want better for himself. He even influenced Rose to go to College and even helped get him there.

In "I Just Wanna Be Average" written by Mike Rose, different types of teachers are talked about. One of the teachers was a gym teacher, who was an abusive, mean, and physical teacher. Another type of teacher was a teacher named Mr. Mitropetros. This teacher was described as unorganized and did not really plan lessons for the class. The next teacher that was talked about was Mr. Montez. This teacher was described as a very prepared teacher even though they had a rowdy class, and was also the Spanish teacher. The next teacher who was described is a teacher named Mr. Gross, who is described as being good at teaching and caring about teaching, which seems to be different from most of the other teachers that are talked about. The next and last teacher that was described is a teacher named Mr. MacFarland. This teacher is described as actually being interested in his job and teaching because he actually likes it.

In the essay "I Just Want to be Average, Mike Rose describes many of his teachers, all of which had some sort of impact on him. The first teacher he mentions is is homeroom teacher Brother Dill who taught freshman English. Rose describes him as being an unstable man who would occasionally lose control, and shake or smack the students. He then talks about his physical education teacher who was an ex-lineman and pro ball player from the Midwest. He describes him as being harsh, and talks about how he would hit the students on the butt with paddles, and how he had made a racist joke to Rose. His sophomore English teacher, Mr. Mitropetros, was "a large, bejewelled man," and would make the students re-read the same play over again because he had little training in English. His Spanish 1 teacher, Mr. Montez was described as being a soft-spoken, less authoritative man. Brother Slattery, Rose's world history teacher was a younger teacher, who had a stern voice, and would give the students weekly quizzes. His sophomore biology teacher, Brother Clint, was "young and powerful and very handsome, and looks and physical strength were high currency." The final teacher he mentions is Jack McFarland, who Rose described as homeless looking with his stained teeth, wrinkled pants, and messed up tie. He then went on to describe the shock of how well McFarland taught, and the intelligence he carried with himself, and how he motivated everyone. The teachers Rose encountered throughout the years, whether good or bad at what they did, all had an importance and all led up to him getting a teacher that actually gave him hope and a willingness to learn.

Mike Rose talks about several different teachers who he had a class with in "'I Just Wanna Be Average'". The first one he names was Brother Dill, an abusive homeroom teacher who was shrewd and made Rose less likely to speak out of turn or in a challenging manner. The second mentioned was a gym teacher who was similarly physically abusive and brash, scaring his students into submission. The third was Mr. Mitropetros who taught tenth-grade English, a teacher who was not seemingly passionate about his work and would often speak of things that didn't matter to the class, already making Rose behind in English and lose passion for it himself. Mr. Montez taught Spanish I, a new teacher who was not authoritative and made Rose come to terms with the idea that freedom was not always preferred. Mr. Gross had not taught Rose but was instead in a book called "Horace's Compromise", a teacher that helped students who behind learned how to do the things they had missed. Since these teachers weren't present in the vocational classes Rose was taking, Gross was almost a symbol of hope that was crushed for Rose. Brother Slattery tried to be a teacher like this but simply was unable to engage his students like he wanted to. Brother Clint was one of the few genuinely effective teachers that Rose mentions, caring about his students enough to catch the mistake that had landed Rose in unnecessary vocational education. Lastly mentioned was Mr. MacFarland, first described as a man who shouldn't really garner much respect. Then, we learn about the way that MacFarland was a hard teacher that inspired Rose greatly, winning him over and becoming a grand role model.

In "I just wanna be average" by Mike Rose, Rose discusses the teachers he had over the years and how they impacted him. The first teacher mentioned is named Brother Dill who is described as being "a troubled and unstable man" who would psychically abuse Rose and his classmates when he would lose control. The next teacher mentioned was his Physical education teacher who was also harsh to the kids and would psychically abuse them as well. Mr. Mitropetros who was Rose's sophomore English teacher made them repeat reading Julius Caesar for the whole 20 weeks of class. Mr. Montez, the Spanish teacher, was a tiny and delicate man who had trouble controlling his rowdy class. The last teacher that Rose talked about was Mr. MacFarland who made a positive impact on his life. He had crafted lectures and gave them lots of work. Mr. MacFarland got Rose back into reading and was a role model for Rose. Mr. MacFarland became an inspiration and helped him get accepted into college. I think that the different types of teachers mentioned can show how different teachers can impact your relationship with school and learning.

In the story "I Just Wanna Be Average," Rose talks about, and explains, the different teachers he had, and how they, along with their teaching styles, have affected his life. The first teacher he mentions is his homeroom teacher, Brother Dill. He was described as an unstable and aggressive man, who often used acts of violence as a form of discipline. The second teacher mentioned was his Physical Education teacher, who remains unnamed. He seemed abusive and very harsh, not caring for his students at all. The next teacher is Mr. Metropetros, who was inexperienced, leaving the class to recite the same book over and over. Then there is Mr. Montrez, who was also inexperienced, leaving his class rowdy, but still cared for his students. Brother Clint was the teacher that helped Rose get into his college prep class because he noticed how advanced Rose seemed for vocational education. The very last teacher he mentions is Mr. MacFarland, he cared very much for students' education and helped Rose in literature and to prepare for college. The difference of each teacher helped show the different teaching styles, and how they can embrace different things out/for students.

The gym teacher is the first teacher that is mentioned in the essay "I Just Wana be Average" by Mike Rose. Although he was a bad teacher who beat his students with a paddle, his name was never mentioned in the text. The following teacher was Mr. Mitropertos, who taught grade 10 English, which Rose thought was meaningless. The next teacher was Mr. Montez, a spanish teacher who had trouble keeping his students under control. Mr. Mcfarland was the final teacher, and he was the one who challenged Rose to work hard and to be the best version of himself. He also assisted Rose in getting into an excellent school.

From "I Just Wanna Be Average", by Mike Rose, Rose illustrates his teachers that he has at Mercy; his school. Starting with a homeroom taught by Brother Dill. This class would occasionally get off track, and the teacher raised accusations and lost his temper; hitting students. To the point where Rose's glasses were smacked off of him. Second came gym class with an unnamed teacher. A stout man from the Midweset, who whipped his students with a paddle. With an excuse of "making them men". Mr. Mitropetros follows but was just unmovtivated to teach, leaving the kids to read and re-read Julius Caesar. But just switching parts once finished. Next follows Mr.Montez who taught Spanish I with a bad habit of pencil tapping. Eventually driving students mad, and becoming unruly and hard for him to handle. Alas, Mr. MacFarland came along who was so caring about his students education, never giving up on them. He prepared Rose for college and was a teacher who made him feel seen and cared for. This teacher changed his life.

In "I Just Wanna Be Average," Mike Rose talks about his school years on the vocational track and discusses his different teachers. His first teacher mentioned is his unnamed P.E. teacher, who is rude and abusive toward the students. Next comes his English teacher. Mr. Mistropetros, who didn't put much effort into teaching his class, because he was more infatuated with his night job. Then is his Spanish teacher, Mr. Montez, who struggled to keep his class's attention and control their actions. Brother Clint was the first teacher Rose had that got him somewhat interested in school. He had the ability to keep the class's attention while teaching. Rose learned that biology was interesting when taught correctly. The teacher that really changed Rose's life was Mr. Macfarland. When Mr. Macfarland first started teaching, he seemed to be a slob or a joke, because he showed up looking not put together. But he proved himself as a good teacher, by actually giving his students assignments and keeping them engaged in discussions. Mr. Macfarland helped push Rose to his full potential and even helped him get into college. Rose's story shows how a great teacher can have such an influence on one's life.

In “I Just Wanna Be Average” by Mike Rose, Rose writes about his experience in school and describes his teachers. The first teacher he describes was his homeroom supervisor, “Brother Dill”, who was unstale and also taught English. Rose describes how he was often emotionally unbalanced, losing his cool during his class, and shook or smacked his students. Next was his physical education teacher, who similarly, was rough to his students both physically and verbally. The third teacher Rose describes was his sophomore English teacher, Mr. Mitropetros, who manages the parking lot, as well as teaches English. Mr. Mitropetros is unqualified and gives them busy work. Next Rose introduced his Spanish teacher, Mr. Montez, unlike every other teacher that was introduced, was described as a calm and collected individual, ready for the rowdy class he taught. Following Mr. Montez was Mr. Gross who Rose describes as a teacher who cares for his students, helping those who struggle in school. Rose brought up Brother Clint, who taught biology, and used the same textbooks and syllabus for every class, but Rose found his classes interesting. Lastly, Rose describes Mr. MacFarland, clearly the most significant for Rose’s education as he was one of the few teachers who cared about his job, the students, and teaching the right way while also keeping it fun. The most educational impacting teachers on Rose were Mr. McFarland and Brother Clint, who made the learning environment fun and truly cared about their students wellbeing.

In the essay "I Just Wanna Be Average" Mike Rose talks about the teachers he has had and how they have affected him. The first teacher he mentioned was "Brother Dill" who taught freshman English and is described as "unstable" and "troubled." He used physical abuse when the class got out of hand. The next was an unnamed physical education teacher, who also often used physical abuse to "make men of his students." He had Mr. Mitropetros for sophomore English who was unexperienced in teaching and just had the class read the required reading for the whole semester. He next introduced Mr. Montez the Spanish teacher who was a tiny man and was calm and collected but not prepared for the rowdiness in class. Mr. Gross is described by Rose as an amazing teacher, he helped students develop hypothesis and troubleshoot, reason through problems, and communicate effectively. Lastly Rose talks about Mr. MacFarland who became a well respected teacher and helped Rose read again.

In "I Just Wanna Be Average" by Mike Rose, Rose talks about is his gym teacher. Being told he had beat kids with a paddle before, the gym teacher was known as pretty harsh, troubled, and unstable. Mr. Mitropetros was very last minute when it came to planning his lessons, he would make them reread Julius Caesar over and over again over 20 weeks. Mr. Montez had always had a rowdy class but always was prepared and knew how to deal with rather difficult students, he was a caring teacher but didn’t have the skill to actually teach them. Lastly, Mr. Macfarland, Mr. Macfarland cared a lot about his students and their success, Mr. Macfarland was the teacher that changed Rose’s perspective in the school environment. Macfarland pushed Rose’s limits when it came to school work which resulted in Rose naturally pushing himself in other subjects.
